Part One: Probability

Case Study #1.5

A New Bowl , Sampling and Probability

New Bowl:..contains twelve(12) green, nine(9) blue, six(6) red, and three(3) yellow chips.

Case Description: Gain a physical appreciation of the relationship between samples and probability models.

Case Objectives:

Produce and defend a probability model for draws with replacement, using our bowl and observing color on each draw. Put it in table form, and interpret the probabilities in terms of repeated trials { draws with replacement }.

Using the model table, describe perfect samples of size 25 and 50. Why might you refer to the counts in the perfect sample as expected values ?

Produce samples of size 25 and 50. Relate these samples(draws with replacement) to perfect samples of size 25 and 50. Put in table form the observed and expected counts for each color, in each sample.
